Yeah. So it's been like a reeeeeeeeeeeally long time. I am a blogging failure. Work's been keeping me busy for a change. Been building a webpage, updating documentation, all kinds of fun stuff. Anyway...just in case there's anyone left that reads this thing, I thought I'd post about my adventure to Crown Point to get my kitteh.
So I made my adventure to Crown Point last Tuesday. It was nice to actually make the drive in daylight after having actually gotten some sleep. Makes it just a bit easier. Although...as excited as I was to meet my Wisconsin peeps and get my kitty, it just wasn't as intense as it was leading up to my Johnny Depp meeting. Sorry ladies...but I have a feeling you understand. ;)
So anyway...I arrived...we met...I got my kitty...we went to have lunch at What's The Scoop and got to hang out there for a little while. I put Captain Jack in his little carrier that shall be henceforth known as "The Brig" and he was not thrilled.

After a while, though, he fell asleep and we ate and chatted and laughed. I must say the comedy team that is Osh and Streetwiser...otherwise known as Colleen and Evan are a hoot. Shake...otherwise known as Betty is awesome as well. They're all just great. They brought me some real Wisconsin cheese curds and a cheesehead beer cozy and a pencil topper and a keychain and some cowpies...not to mention a new member of my family. So yeah...there were lots of silly antics with the three of them.

Dedication. His mom is eating his head, and he still manages to throw up the bunny ears. Kudos, man.
Betty kept getting Evan into trouble and then they all told me of their
near-death experience on the way down. They are fun people. I enjoyed my time with them as short as it was. Shake, Osh, Wiser...you're diamonds, mates.
After a while, we decided to explore the Lake County Jail...well...as much as we possibly could. The Lake County Jail was the film set during my previous visit to Crown Point, so I didn't get to see it up close and personal. This time, I just got to hang out on the porch and walk around it.

It was moderately cool to walk up the steps that Johnny walked up and all that jazz. But after meeting him, stuff like that loses its luster.
Anyway...after walking around the jail and really not seeing much of anything, we decided to part ways. It had been a long day for all of us and we all had long drives ahead of us still. So everyone said goodbye to Captain Jack.

Poor Betty had a really hard time letting him go. Understandably so. He is the cutest cuddliest little thing I've ever seen. But I greatly appreciate that she was willing to hand him over to me. I promise I'll take good care of him.
And thus began our journey home. The SS Cobalt set sail for Dayton with me at the helm and poor Captain Jack locked in the brig. He was rather unhappy about that. And very vocal about his unhappiness. I felt terrible, so I stopped and let him roam around in the car for a little bit. The first place he went: under the brake and accelerator. Yeah. That is why I had to keep him in the brig while I was driving. We started back out on the road and after about 30 minutes or so, he finally resigned himself to his quarters and fell asleep for the rest of the journey.
When we arrived at home he immediately set out to explore.
I've discovered that he LOVES hanging out on my desk...

...and stepping on Johnny's head.

Apparently, he's a techie. I think he needs to start his own blog.
After exploring for about an hour, he crashed...

...right into my lap.
I then carefully moved him to my pirate blankey on the couch and departed for our Tuesday night group. When I returned, he hadn't destroyed anything at all. That's always a good thing. He cuddled with me all night. So adorable and sweet. I'm so happy to have him. :D
So yeah...a pretty good day all in all. I'm glad to have met my Wisconsin peeps and hope to see them again sometime. You guys ROCK!!! Thanks for coming all the way down to meet me. I promise I'll keep you updated on Cap'n Jack. And thanks for taking such good care of him while you had him!
So that's about it. I will TRY to update just a little more often, but I'm certainly not going to make any promises.
Until next time...
Peace out!!
